Name: Ian Sidney Roberts

Description: 18 years old, slim, and built for running, Ian is a young but powerful magical talent living in the Tuscon area. He is 6’1", 170 lbs, with almost metallic gray eyes, and shoulder length deep auburn hair that he keeps in a warrior’s knot. He likes to gamble, but is happier when the odds are in his favor. His current plans involve becoming 21, at which time he will hit Vegas and win big.

High Concept: Easy Going Earth Mage
Ian is a powerful mortal magic-user. He may not have the training, but he has the power. Either way, he doesn’t mind. He has it, and that is that. He may be stubborn at times, but life is life, and in the end, all will be fine. At least, he hopes so.

Trouble: One More Try!
Ian doesn’t know when to quit. He is stubborn, and it shows when he has the bit in his teeth. He’ll keep betting on the long odds, or keep fighting when it is best to cut your losses.

Background:
Ian was a native of Colorado. Born in Denver, and raised in the Rockies. He is a strange mix of urban and rural. He was educated in the city, and went to the mountains during the summer. When in the mountains, he and his closest friends often explored the mountains together, and grew to love nature. Ian loved the stone. A wall in his room was stacked with hundreds of stones and rough gems, from marble and granite, to some fossils and even a ruby.
At school, he was less adventurous. His favorite subjects were Geology and Science, along with History and English. It was there he first discovered his magic. As a freshman, he was abused by older students for being small. One bully terrorized him. It came to a head during recess, when the bully broke his nose with a basketball. An earthquake suddenly shook the ground, knocking the boy to the ground. Ian then leaped on him, pummeling him with his fists, breaking the bully’s nose and leaving some obviously painful bruises. It was that summer when he came to control his magic. He came back to school a few inches taller, much more confident, and was popular for the rest of his high school years. He never mistreated the younger students. After he graduated, he moved to Tuscon with his close friends Sophia and Lucas. He became a professional gambler, while his friends went to college.

After a good night at the tables, backed up by the hefty wad of cash in his pocket (declared to the IRS), Ian was headed home. It was late, however, and he was tired, and subsequently got lost. Along the way home, he found a person. An old, weather-worn man in a Spongebob t-shirt. He was coated in gore of various colors, and beaten black and blue. Ian hops out to help him, and hears him mutter something about kids and another guy before passing out. Ian pulls him into his car.
Hearing a roaring engine and Red Court hunting cries makes him regret that decision. He fled in he DeLorean, trying to out-pace the Reds in their truck. With some prodigous luck, he found his way to a local ley-line he was familiar with. Using that power, it was simple for him to squash the Reds. The man he saved had come to during the fight, and witnessed Ian’s skill with earth magic. His name was Max Freeman. Ian recognized him then, as the local White Council member. Freeman recognized him as a fellow geomancer, and gave Ian a rare opportunity: to be tested for the White Council. Ian said yes, and soon became Max’s apprentice. The only problem was the Vampire War: Freeman was often out of town with fellow Wardens, and Ian’s education suffers for it.

That day sucked. He lost money gambling, his car broke down, and the windstorm was blowing grit into his ears. All in all, it was a Monday. When he saw glittering shapes in the sand, he passed it off as quartz crystals. When a sylph came out with a dust devil on its tail and claws reaching for his throat, he chalked that up to Monday as well. He clipped that one’s wings, and soon enough more were coming. He got out of Dodge, intent on figuring out his problem.
